A SPECIAL NOTE ABOUT THE SACRAMENTS OF FIRST HOLY COMMUNION, FIRST RECONCILIATION AND CONFIRMATION.
Preparation for receiving the Sacraments of First Holy Communion and First Reconciliation is a two-year program, usually occurring in grades 1 & 2. If you have a child currently in grade 2 or higher who has not yet begun religious education classes, please contact Marie Cookson to discuss preparation for your child.
The age for receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation in our Diocese is gradually being lowered from grade 10 to grade 6 (by 2022-23.) Students follow grade-appropriate catechesis for the first part of the school year and beginning around February, focus on preparing to be Confirmed, which normally occurs in May. For 2020-21, students in grades 7 and 8 will be prepared to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation. To be confirmed, it is assumed that the student has been in religious education classes the prior year. If this is not the case, please contact Marie Cookson to discuss your particular circumstance.
At St. Catherine of Siena Parish we refer to our Religious Education Program as Faith Formation.
